How’d you hear about the song? I heard it live at church. Anastasia Fomenko who wrote this song is a lead singer at a church I attend. I was out of town when everyone heard this song for the first time. One sunday while the worship band was singing this song, my wife tap me on my shoulder and tells me, “that’s her song”.
I love this song for so many different reasons, it reminds me my favorite verse in the Bible, Joshua 1:9. …Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (NIV)
I met Anastasia and her husband Vik in late 2010 when they moved from Seattle to
Ventura. I got the chance to watch Anastasia lead the worship team and grow over the last 7 years as the lead singer.
Listening to this song makes me feel like I have super powers. If I had super powers, what would be my favorite thing to do while hearing this song? Make Jesus Famous!! When I hear this song, I daydream about my wife, children and the how far God brought me to where I am today. I encourage everyone to support and purchase music from Anastasia Fomenko. Buy it and add it to your library. ” No Longer Afraid” is a song anyone can listen to. As far as Anastasia’s “style” and voice, it’s different. I believe she’s very talented and can’t wait to see how God uses her.
Just Sayin’: Can you tell me about yourself?
Anastasia Fomenko: My name is Anastasia, I’m a wife and a mama. I love Jesus, music and people, and feel honored that I get to see all of those connected in my life. Worship is one of my favorite things in the world on and off the stage. It’s been my passion since I was a little girl. There’s nothing more fulfilling than leading people into God’s presence where they can discover life, freedom and purpose for their life.
Just Sayin’: What kind of people should listen to this song?
Anastasia Fomenko: In my opinion, “No Longer Afraid” can be anyone’s anthem, it reminds us that when we allow the love of God to enter our world we can live a fearless life.
Just Sayin’: How do you personally relate to this song?
Anastasia Fomenko: As a little girl I was a severe stutterer. I could barely speak in front of people. It was almost unbearable how deeply fear and anxiety made their home in me, as well as shame from other things that were happening in my life. It felt like the enemy tried to silence my voice from an early age. Melodies and songs was how I would escape from all of it. They would unlock something in me that I didn’t know existed. What I didn’t realize was that worship would be the key to my freedom. Jesus broke through, healed every broken place and set me free from fear and shame. This song comes out of that freedom journey.
Just Sayin’: What is your favorite part of this song?
Anastasia Fomenko: Honestly the theme. My husband and I moved to this beautiful little beach town called Ventura over 7 years ago to help start a church. The ocean has became my friend; a place where I process, think, pray and have so many conversations with God.
“No Longer Afraid” was really a life journey in a song. It takes courage to unlock the melodies… https://t.co/Zqe8gH0iNc

Just Sayin’: Is there a deeper meaning behind this song?
Anastasia Fomenko: The funny thing is, although this song came from a life journey I shared earlier, it took me about 40 minutes to write. I was going into the studio to record something different and felt the urge to sit at the piano before then. And it’s as if the words to “No Longer Afraid” were right there waiting for me to release them.
Just Sayin’: Do you plan on writing more songs and what advice do you have for the lost?
Anastasia Fomenko: I have another song coming out early March and some more singles to come this year. Perfect love casts off all fear. If you haven’t yet met Perfect Love, His name is Jesus. He loved us so much that He died on that cross taking all of our sin and shame and in exchange gave us life for eternity. Now we can experience that life in all its fullness if we simply believe in Him! He is that good!
